INTRODUCTION FROM THE LIBRARIAN HERSELF!
I thought I would take a moment to introduce myself! Hello all, I am Adeline, and I started working as the library director for Lowell Community Library in May of this year. Though I am not a Lowell lifer, I am a native Vermonter, and my husband and our three kids have lived happily in Lowell for the past seven years. So, what are my qualifications? Why did I want to work for the library? Well, before I became a mom, I had many wonderful colorful and creative jobs that taught me so much, but one of my very favorites was as a library clerk at the Enosburg Public Library. During my time at Enosburg, I was encouraged to take a creative role in our children's programming, I made monthly bulletin boards, hosted holiday parties, and did my best to get more people through our doors. Quickly my community outreach extended to our adult programming too! We hosted coffee and new books each week, made fun displays, marked staff picks in our DVD section, and hosted a Vermont themed party complete with Vermont authors. I cultivated our social media presence and shared my vision of a hub of community with incoming staff. I am very proud to say that today that vision has come to life, everything I dreamed it could be, it is, and more! After leaving Enosburg Library I became a stay-at-home Mom and I homeschool our kids! We are all avid readers, history lovers, and art enthusiasts. We seek out learning and life experiences as often as we possibly can. When I was asked to interview for the position it seemed like a perfect fit. I love my community, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to give back and get to know more of you. I am grateful to get the chance to promote a love of reading to the children in our town because literacy is more than just reading words on a page, it's experiencing life through someone else's eyes, its adventure, its debate and analysis, it's life! So please, come say hello! Take a look around, see what's new, and please come have fun with us this summer.
